Biography of Sunan Giri. Known as Raden Paku, Prabu Satmata, Sultan Abdul Faqih, Raden 'Ainul Yaqin and Joko Samudra is the name of one of the Wali Songo who is located in Giri village, Kebomas, Gresik, East Java. He was born in Blambangan (Banyuwangi) in the year of Saka Candra Sengkala "Jalmo orek werdaning quatu" (1365 Saka). And died in the year of Saka Candra Sengkala "Sayu Sirno Sucining Sukmo" (1428 Saka) in the village of Giri, Kebomas, Gresik.
Sunan Giri is also the descendant of Rasulullah SAW; Through the line of Husayn ibn Ali, Ali Zainal Abidin, Muhammad Al-Baqir, Ja'far Ash-Shadiq, Ali al-Uraidhi, Muhammad al-Naqib, Isa ar-Rummi, Ahmad Al-Muhajir, Ubaidullah, Alwi Awwal, Muhammad Sahibus Saumiah, Alwi ats-Tsani, Ali Khali 'Qasam, Muhammad Shahib Mirbath, Alwi Ammi al-Faqih, Abdul Malik (Ahmad Khan), Abdullah (al-Azhamat) Khan, Ahmad Shah Jalal (Jalaluddin Khan), Jamaluddin Akbar al- Husaini (Maulana Akbar), Maulana Ishaq and 'Ainul Yaqin (Sunan Giri). Sunan Giri is the fruit of marriage of Maulana Ishaq, an Islamic preacher from Central Asia, with Dewi Sekardadu, the daughter of Prabu Menak Sembuyu of the ruler of the Blambangan region in the final days of Majapahit. The crew was shocked to learn that the contents of the crate were a bright, glowing baby boy. The ship's crew turned back to Gresik to give his findings to Nyai Gede Pinatih a merchant in Gresik as a ship owner. Nyai Gede Pinatih amazed and very fond of the baby and mengangkanya as a child by giving the name Joko Samudra.
When he started his teenage age of 12 years, Joko Samudra brought his mother to Surabaya to study religion to Raden Rahmat (Sunan Ampel) at his own request. Not long after his teaching, Sunan Ampel knows the true identity of his beloved disciple. Sunan Ampel sent him along with Makdhum Ibrahim (Sunan Bonang), to deepen the teachings of Islam in Pasai before fulfilling his desire to perform the Hajj.
